What is Dysport?

At Body Bar MD in Carmel and Terre Haute, IN, we offer Dysport, a wrinkle relaxer similar to that of BOTOX® that is used to soften and reduce dynamic lines and wrinkles from frowning, smiling, and laughing. This wrinkle relaxer temporarily blocks signals to the muscles of your skin, allowing you to get smooth and natural-looking results. You may be a good candidate for Dysport if you want to improve severe to moderate wrinkles on your face. This quick, 15 – 30-minute treatment allows you to rejuvenate your skin and get visible results in about 1 – 3 days. You may notice a bit of slight redness and swelling, but this shouldn't last more than a day or so. Follow-up visits may be necessary every 3 – 4 months to maintain results.

What are the benefits of Dysport?

Some people are simply not interested in invasive plastic surgery. Dysport is a great alternative for those who want to look younger but are not quite ready for a facelift. Patients call our professionals at Body Bar MD for many reasons, including:

  • Safe treatment: Wrinkle relaxers like Dysport has been used for many years and are considered safe when administered by a qualified professional.
  • Noninvasive: Dysport is a minimally invasive treatment that does not require any incisions or scarring.
  • Visible results: You will see a visible difference in the appearance of your skin after just one session in our office.
  • Quick treatment: The entire Dysport process can be performed in as little as 15 minutes.

Who Is a Candidate for Dysport?

Dysport is ideal if you are looking for a nonsurgical procedure to improve moderate to severe vertical frown (glabellar) lines between the eyebrows. Since dynamic wrinkles and lines are created by frequent use, they may develop at any age and make you appear mad, sad, or tired. Dysport is an effective, fast treatment that smoothes dynamic wrinkles without leaving a "frozen" face. Since Dysport expands to treat a group of wrinkles, it is also great for Crow's feet, the small wrinkles in the outer corners of the eyes. Many patients at Body Bar MD see visible improvements 1 – 3 days after their treatment that may remain up to four months.

What can I expect after Dysport injections?

Following a Dysport treatment, you may have mild redness and swelling near the injection sites, but this should disappear within a few days. You should sleep upright for the first night and may want to apply cold compresses as needed. Results are commonly noticeable in 1 –3 days as the severity of your lines is reduced for a softer, smoother appearance. Your results should last for around 3 – 4 months and more treatments may be done at Body Bar MD to extend your results.

Dysport FAQ

How much does Dysport cost?
The total cost depends on the amount of Dysport needed to attain your desired results. In your initial consultation, your injector will develop your unique treatment plan and then estimate your cost. Ask if we have any specials on Dysport at Body Bar MD and the different methods of payment we take.

What's the difference between Dysport and BOTOX?
BOTOX and Dysport are cosmetic injections to improve dynamic facial wrinkles. Dysport results usually develop quicker compared to BOTOX. Also, Dysport tends to last longer than BOTOX, and it spreads to a larger coverage area. In your consultation, your injector will understand whether BOTOX or Dysport is ideal for your needs and goals.

Should I get Dysport or a wrinkle filler?
Most people do not understand the difference between wrinkle relaxers and fillers. Simply put, a wrinkle relaxer addresses dynamic wrinkles while a dermal filler addresses static lines. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by repetitive movements, like smiling, laughing, frowning, and other facial expressions. Dysport relaxes the creased muscle under the skin for a smoother appearance. Static lines are the result of low skin elasticity, so a dermal filler plumps the skin to make it look even. During your initial consult, your injector will listen to your concerns and help you determine whether Dysport, a filler, or both will produce your best outcome.

Can Dysport be combined with other treatments?
At Body Bar MD, we offer several nonsurgical treatments, which can be used to complement the results of your Dysport injection. Based on your areas of concern and wants, your personalized treatment plan might include Dysport injections for dynamic wrinkles, a filler for static lines or volume in your cheeks and lips, as well as a laser skin treatment. We encourage you to be honest during your initial consultation so we can develop a plan that delivers amazing results.

How often should I get Dysport injections?
Your Dysport results may help for as long as four months. During your initial consultation, your injector will recommend how often you should return to our office in Carmel or Terre Haute, IN, to sustain your results. You might want to increase the frequency of your treatments or further apart after you see the results from your initial Dysport treatment.

Dysport injections are administered in one of our procedure rooms following your consultation with Dr. Christy, taking about 15 – 30 minutes. A numbing cream or local anesthetic is usually unnecessary since the injections are made with a fine needle that causes minimal pain, but it can be requested. The skin will be cleaned and five well-placed injections of Dysport will be administered across the eyebrows, followed with a cold compress to lessen bruising and swelling. After your procedure at Body Bar MD, you can perform daily tasks, but you should try to avoid strenuous activities for at least one day. We invite you to contact Body Bar MD to learn more and schedule a consultation.
